枝垂桜
添え：バイカオウレン
枝垂れの名の通り、下方に垂れる枝模様が見どころの桜の品種。滝の如く流れ落ちる枝先に純白の花が散りばめられる。蘇軾（そしょく）の七言絶句「春夜」の一節「花有清香（かゆうせいこう）」が線刻された泥鉢ともよく合い、春の宵にしばし眺めたい一鉢である。

Weeping Cherry
Companion Piece: Baika-ōren, Coptis quinquefolia
The weeping cherry is notable for the way that its branches droop down. The tips of its branches that come down burst like a waterfall bearing numerous small white flowers. It matches well with its unglazed pot, which has been carved with a line from the Chinese poem qiyan jueju, Spring Night, by poet Su Shi. This line may be translated as “bustling blossoms revel in refreshing fragrance”. This piece is best admired on a spring evening.

樹形：模様木／推定樹齢：300年
掛軸：秋吉則州「萬里一条鉄」E-076 ／脇床：チョウジュバイ
根元からうねるように立ち上がった幹に、白色化したシャリがからみつき、観る者を圧倒するような躍動感を生みだしている。厳しい風雪に耐えることで培（つちか）われた、真柏ならではの造型美を見せる一点。

Style: Moyhogi (Curved Trunk) ／ Estimated Age: 300 eyears
Hanging Scroll: "Banri Ichijyo No Tetu" (calligraphy by Sokushu Akiyoshi) E-076 ／ Side Alcove: Chojubai, Flowering Quince, Chaenomeles japonica ‘Chojubai’
The winding trunk, which undulates as it rises up the root to embrace the dead whitewood, or shari, expresses an overwhelming sense of movement to the viewer. As of a tree which was raised withstanding severe wind and snow, this bonsai boasts a beautiful shape only possible with Japanese juniper.

土佐水木
掛軸：不詳「元禄美人糸繰り」E-064
土佐水木はマンサク科トサミズキ属の低木で、高知県（旧国名：土佐国）のみに自生することから、この名前が付いた。釣鐘状の萼（がく）から、淡黄色の花を穂状に咲かせるところが特徴。若木の細い枝先から花をほころばせ、春の訪れを知らせてくれる。

Spike Winter-hazel
Hanging Scroll: "Reeling Silk" (Painter unknown) E-064
The spike winter-hazel is a shrub of the witch-hazel family. Its name in Japanese is Tosa-mizuki. It gets this name from the fact that it only grows naturally in Kōchi Prefecture, which was formally known as Tosa Province. The light yellow flowers that bloom from its bell-shaped sepal set this bonsai apart. The flowers that bud out from the tips of this plant’s fine branches herald the vernal season.

樹形：模様木／推定樹齢：90年
掛軸：今尾景年「朧月」E-033
清らかで奥深い趣を意味する「清玄」という品種名が付けられた本種の特徴は、春に鮮やかな紅色の若葉を芽吹くことにある。若葉は夏にかけていったん青葉にかわり、秋には再びみごとな紅葉に染まる。

Style: Moyogi (Curved Trunk) ／ Estimated Age: 90 years
Hanging Scroll: Hazy Moon (Painted by Keinen Imao) E-033
This variety of maple is called seigen, meaning "pure and deep". It is known for the bright crimson foliage that bud in the spring. These leaves then change into green all at once in the summer and finally become soaked in crimson again in the autumn.

小葉の髄菜
本種は、比較的暖かい地域の山中に自生する落葉低木である。この時季は、豊かな空間を形作りながら広がる枝配りと、赤く染まった繊細な枝先が見どころ。５月になると、愛らしい白い花を穂状につける。秋の紅葉も美しく、四季を通じて楽しめる樹種である。

Virginia Willow
The Virginia willow is a deciduous shrub that naturally grows in comparatively warm mountain regions. The way its branches widely spread out and the red color of its delicate branches are a must-see in this season. Around May, many pretty white flowers bloom in ears on its thin branches. In autumn, the leaves turn a beautiful red, making this a piece that can be enjoyed all year round.

色絵唐子文六角鉢　B-212
窯名：不明／年代：江戸～明治時代
長崎県の平戸焼とする見方もある。胴の各面には、軍配や銅鑼を携えた童子の愛らしい姿が描かれる。こうした異国風のいでたちをした「唐子」が楽し気に遊ぶ姿は、太平の世を象徴する吉祥文様とされた。六角形の形状を活かし、色数の限られた上絵具ですっきりと描かれている。

Hexagonal Bonsai Pot with Karako Design
Pottery : Unkown　／ Estimated Year: Edo～Meiji Periods
It is thought that this pot could be a piece of hirado ware, a type of pottery produced in Nagasaki Prefecture. Pictures of cute children holding gongs and war fans are depicted on each of the faces. This type of design with karako, children in exotic Chinese clothing, could be said to be auspicious and to represent peace and harmony. All six sides are used to their fullest while only using limited color.

安定感のあるどっしりとした根元と、歳月を重ねた荒々しい樹皮が、黒松ならではの力強い生命力や、大樹の風格を感じさせる。バランスよく配された枝が、端正な趣（おもむき）をかたちづくる一点。

The imposing trunk base, with its feeling of stability, and the bark that has been harshly tempered over many years, make this Japanese black pine appear resilient and enormous. The balance in the branch placement on this piece helps to create its graceful shape.

瀬田川石　銘武蔵野　C-061
採石地: 滋賀県瀬田川流域
本品が採取された滋賀県の瀬田川流域は、名石の産地として知られている。黒い石の上面に灰白色の浅い層がところどころに浮かび上がり、「武蔵野」の銘の通り、なだらかな起伏を帯びてどこまでも広がりゆく、原野の景観をかたち作っている。

Collected Area: Seta River, Shiga Pref.
The Seta River in Shiga Prefecture, where this stone was taken from, is famous for the quality stones found there. Shallow grey sections rise up throughout the black rocky surface of this stone. It evokes the scene of an expansive field that spreads out into the horizon with gentle slopes.

椿（永楽） A-132
樹形：双幹／推定樹齢50年
黒みを帯びた渋い紅色の花が特徴の品種名「永楽」の盆栽。花期は3月上旬から中旬で、花弁があまり開かない「筒咲き」も特徴のひとつ。本作は、挿し木から40年以上にわたって作りこまれたもので、若木の時から曲づけられた幹模様が目を引く。ゆったりとした曲線となめらかな白い樹皮が、やさしい印象を与えている。

Japanese Camellia　(Eiraku)
Style: Sō-kan (Twin Trunk) ／ Estimated Age: 50 Years
This variety of Japanese camellia named “eiraku” is known for its dark, crimson red flowers. While these flowers will bloom from the start of March, the petals do not fully open, giving them a unique shape. In Japanese, this is known as tsutsuzaki, or “tubular flowers”. This piece has been taken care of carefully for around 40 years to create its unique twisting trunk, which captures the intrigue of the viewer. The eiraku camellia lets off a gentle aura from its relaxed curves and its smooth white trunk.

第2回「万才・溢彩・BONSAI」さいたま市立土呂中学校・第2学年美術科授業作品選抜展覧会

大宮盆栽美術館は、さいたま市立土呂中学校美術科第2学年における、盆栽をモチーフとするペーパークラフト作品を制作する授業に協力しました。
同校との共催により2年目となる本展覧会では、授業の成果発表の場として、授業内容を紹介するとともに、生徒の作品から36点を選抜して紹介します。
紙紐を使用し、その特性を生かして自在に作り上げられる植物の姿や盆栽のかたちを通して、自らの感情を表現した生徒たちの魅力あふれる作品の数々をご鑑賞ください。

会期　令和7年3月21日（金）～4月2日（水）
会場　さいたま市大宮盆栽美術館　ロビー
費用　無料

関連イベント：ワークショップ「ペーパークラフトで盆栽をつくろう！」
土呂中学校の協力のもと、さいたま市文化振興事業団との共催により、出品物の制作技法を取り入れたペーパークラフトづくりを行うワークショップを開催します。

The Second Annual Exhibition of Selected Artworks by Second Grade Art Students of Toro Junior High School

The Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, Saitama, assisted in an art class in which second-grade students of Toro Junior High School, Saitama City, made papercrafts with bonsai as a motif.
This exhibition will showcase the class’s results, introducing the contents of the class while showcasing 36 pieces selected from the students’ art. The students have utilized the characteristics of paper string, allowing them to freely create pieces in the form of plants and bonsai to express their feelings.
Please take a look at their numerous brilliant pieces of art.

Exhibition Period: March 21 – Wed. April 2, 2025

The Omiya Bonsai Art Museum is closed until March, but in the meantime, we will offer free guided tours of the Omiya Bonsai Village in English.

The Omiya Bonsai Village was founded in 1925 and has since become a must-see spot for bonsai artists worldwide.

Experience a free guided tour around the Omiya Bonsai Village. Explore the rich history of the area's gardens and learn about some of the most beautiful bonsai each garden has to offer.

March Village Tour Dates:

Guide Times: From 10 am and 2 pm
Fee: Free
How to Join: Meet at the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum Front Gate (5 mins walk from JR Toro Station) at 10am or 2pm on tour days

テレビ埼玉のさいたま市広報番組「のびのびシティさいたま市」の「今年開村
100周年！大宮盆栽村」のロケがありました。
今回は美術館を飛び出して、盆栽村のまちの中を歩きました。
当館の学芸員が盆栽村開村の功労者・清水利太郎さんの記念碑の前で説明をしていると、
曇り空から太陽が現れ、ぱ～っと明るくなりました。
「利太郎さんが見てるよ！」とリポーターの皆さん。

The Saitama City Local TV program Nobi Nobi City Saitama filmed on location here at the Omiya Bonsai Village and the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum for their upcoming episode on the 100th anniversary of the Omiya Bonsai Village.
We got an opportunity to come out of the museum and show them around the Bonsai Village.
The sky became very clear just as one of the curators at the museum gave an explanation about the memorial stone of Ritaro Shimizu, one of the founders of the village.
The cast of the show said it was like Ritaro was watching over us.

大宮盆栽美術館は、盆栽庭園の池リニューアルに伴い3/20（木）まで休館中ですが、西区役所で、大宮盆栽美術館の盆栽展示のほか、大宮盆栽村等を紹介するパネル展示を行っています。
区役所にご来所の際は、是非お立ち寄りください！

Venue: Nishi Ward Office, 1st Floor, Lobby
Bonsai on Display: An okame cherry, a Japanese juniper, and a Japanese sweet flag
The flowers will open up and bloom more every day.

As the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum is closed until Thur. March 20 in order to conduct essential garden renovation, we will be holding exhibits of bonsai with panels explaining various topics related to bonsai such as the Omiya Bonsai Village. This exhibit is being held in Saitama City’s Nishi Ward Office.

樹形：模様木／推定樹齢：90年
掛軸：今尾景年「朧月」E-033
清らかで奥深い趣を意味する「清玄」という品種名が付けられた本種の特徴は、春に鮮やかな紅色の若葉を芽吹くことにある。若葉は夏にかけていったん青葉にかわり、秋には再びみごとな紅葉に染まる。

Japanese Maple　(Seigen)
Style: Moyogi (Curved Trunk) ／ Estimated Age: 90 years
Hanging Scroll: Hazy Moon (Painted by Keinen Imao) E-033
This variety of maple is called seigen, meaning "pure and deep". It is known for the bright crimson foliage that bud in the spring. These leaves then change into green all at once in the summer and finally become soaked in crimson again in the autumn.

小葉の髄菜
本種は、比較的暖かい地域の山中に自生する落葉低木である。この時季は、豊かな空間を形作りながら広がる枝配りと、赤く染まった繊細な枝先が見どころ。５月になると、愛らしい白い花を穂状につける。秋の紅葉も美しく、四季を通じて楽しめる樹種である。

Virginia Willow
The Virginia willow is a deciduous shrub that naturally grows in comparatively warm mountain regions. The way its branches widely spread out and the red color of its delicate branches are a must-see in this season. Around May, many pretty white flowers bloom in ears on its thin branches. In autumn, the leaves turn a beautiful red, making this a piece that can be enjoyed all year round.

色絵唐子文六角鉢　B-212
窯名：不明／年代：江戸～明治時代
長崎県の平戸焼とする見方もある。胴の各面には、軍配や銅鑼を携えた童子の愛らしい姿が描かれる。こうした異国風のいでたちをした「唐子」が楽し気に遊ぶ姿は、太平の世を象徴する吉祥文様とされた。六角形の形状を活かし、色数の限られた上絵具ですっきりと描かれている。

Hexagonal Bonsai Pot with Karako Design
Pottery : Unkown　／ Estimated Year: Edo～Meiji Periods
It is thought that this pot could be a piece of hirado ware, a type of pottery produced in Nagasaki Prefecture. Pictures of cute children holding gongs and war fans are depicted on each of the faces. This type of design with karako, children in exotic Chinese clothing, could be said to be auspicious and to represent peace and harmony. All six sides are used to their fullest while only using limited color.

安定感のあるどっしりとした根元と、歳月を重ねた荒々しい樹皮が、黒松ならではの力強い生命力や、大樹の風格を感じさせる。バランスよく配された枝が、端正な趣（おもむき）をかたちづくる一点。

The imposing trunk base, with its feeling of stability, and the bark that has been harshly tempered over many years, make this Japanese black pine appear resilient and enormous. The balance in the branch placement on this piece helps to create its graceful shape.

採石地: 滋賀県瀬田川流域
本品が採取された滋賀県の瀬田川流域は、名石の産地として知られている。黒い石の上面に灰白色の浅い層がところどころに浮かび上がり、「武蔵野」の銘の通り、なだらかな起伏を帯びてどこまでも広がりゆく、原野の景観をかたち作っている。

Collected Area: Seta River, Shiga Pref.
The Seta River in Shiga Prefecture, where this stone was taken from, is famous for the quality stones found there. Shallow grey sections rise up throughout the black rocky surface of this stone. It evokes the scene of an expansive field that spreads out into the horizon with gentle slopes.

椿（永楽） A-132
樹形：双幹／推定樹齢50年
黒みを帯びた渋い紅色の花が特徴の品種名「永楽」の盆栽。花期は3月上旬から中旬で、花弁があまり開かない「筒咲き」も特徴のひとつ。本作は、挿し木から40年以上にわたって作りこまれたもので、若木の時から曲づけられた幹模様が目を引く。ゆったりとした曲線となめらかな白い樹皮が、やさしい印象を与えている。

Japanese Camellia　(Eiraku)
Style: Sō-kan (Twin Trunk) ／ Estimated Age: 50 Years
This variety of Japanese camellia named “eiraku” is known for its dark, crimson red flowers. While these flowers will bloom from the start of March, the petals do not fully open, giving them a unique shape. In Japanese, this is known as tsutsuzaki, or “tubular flowers”. This piece has been taken care of carefully for around 40 years to create its unique twisting trunk, which captures the intrigue of the viewer. The eiraku camellia lets off a gentle aura from its relaxed curves and its smooth white trunk.

第2回「万才・溢彩・BONSAI」さいたま市立土呂中学校・第2学年美術科授業作品選抜展覧会

大宮盆栽美術館は、さいたま市立土呂中学校美術科第2学年における、盆栽をモチーフとするペーパークラフト作品を制作する授業に協力しました。
同校との共催により2年目となる本展覧会では、授業の成果発表の場として、授業内容を紹介するとともに、生徒の作品から36点を選抜して紹介します。
紙紐を使用し、その特性を生かして自在に作り上げられる植物の姿や盆栽のかたちを通して、自らの感情を表現した生徒たちの魅力あふれる作品の数々をご鑑賞ください。

会期　令和7年3月21日（金）～4月2日（水）
会場　さいたま市大宮盆栽美術館　ロビー
費用　無料

関連イベント：ワークショップ「ペーパークラフトで盆栽をつくろう！」
土呂中学校の協力のもと、さいたま市文化振興事業団との共催により、出品物の制作技法を取り入れたペーパークラフトづくりを行うワークショップを開催します。

The Second Annual Exhibition of Selected Artworks by Second Grade Art Students of Toro Junior High School

The Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, Saitama, assisted in an art class in which second-grade students of Toro Junior High School, Saitama City, made papercrafts with bonsai as a motif.
This exhibition will showcase the class’s results, introducing the contents of the class while showcasing 36 pieces selected from the students’ art. The students have utilized the characteristics of paper string, allowing them to freely create pieces in the form of plants and bonsai to express their feelings.
Please take a look at their numerous brilliant pieces of art.

Exhibition Period: March 21 – Wed. April 2, 2025

The Omiya Bonsai Village was founded in 1925 and has since become a must-see spot for bonsai artists worldwide.

Experience a free guided tour around the Omiya Bonsai Village. Explore the rich history of the area's gardens and learn about some of the most beautiful bonsai each garden has to offer.

Guide Times: From 10 am and 2 pm

100周年！大宮盆栽村」のロケがありました。
今回は美術館を飛び出して、盆栽村のまちの中を歩きました。
当館の学芸員が盆栽村開村の功労者・清水利太郎さんの記念碑の前で説明をしていると、
曇り空から太陽が現れ、ぱ～っと明るくなりました。
「利太郎さんが見てるよ！」とリポーターの皆さん。

The Saitama City Local TV program Nobi Nobi City Saitama filmed on location here at the Omiya Bonsai Village and the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum for their upcoming episode on the 100th anniversary of the Omiya Bonsai Village.
We got an opportunity to come out of the museum and show them around the Bonsai Village.
The sky became very clear just as one of the curators at the museum gave an explanation about the memorial stone of Ritaro Shimizu, one of the founders of the village.
The cast of the show said it was like Ritaro was watching over us.

Bonsai on Display: An okame cherry, a Japanese juniper, and a Japanese sweet flag
The flowers will open up and bloom more every day.

As the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum is closed until Thur. March 20 in order to conduct essential garden renovation, we will be holding exhibits of bonsai with panels explaining various topics related to bonsai such as the Omiya Bonsai Village. This exhibit is being held in Saitama City’s Nishi Ward Office.
