【About the Exhibition Pieces】
These are all pieces created during art class by second grade students of Toro Junior High School.
As the Omiya Bonsai Village and the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum is located nearby the school, the students molded their pieces with bonsai as a motif, utilizing the characteristics of the local area.
The students researched and learned about bonsai in order to express their individual feelings through bonsai. In order to achieve this, the students first created an idea sketch, and from there they colored and used pieces of paper string, bending and bundling them together in order to mold trunks and branches of bonsai which would represent each student’s inner thoughts and feelings as papercraft.
We will be displaying 36 pieces in total which were specially selected and won an award at the 64th Saitama Prefecture Elementary and Junior High School Children’s Art Exhibition held in 2023.
