In the late Edo period, in so-called “good luck years,” there was a trend of sending a type of ukiyo-e print called uke-e that depicts objects beginning with the sound “fu,” since “fu” is also the first sound in Japanese words for good luck and wealth. This print is one such work. The Japanese names
