In this picture we see a young woman in a long-sleeved kimono and a child in front of a large water basin scooping for goldfish. A summer theme is presented in the panel at the top of the piece where one can see a Japanese sweet flag planted in another basin as well as a wind chime with a goldfish design. There is also a poem written here which can be translated as, “Goldfish lover, there is nothing to be said when drawn to their form – the beauty of the swimming goldfish – by Ryoko”.
