This stone was taken from the Seta River, which runs from the south end of Biwa Lake. It has many characteristics of a Setagawa-ishi, such as its black sheen and its hard and smooth surface. This flat surface gives the impression of a field or a plain. Suiseki stones with this shape are often called doha-ishi (meaning slope stone). Through this piece, one can imagine great sprawling plains with a peak far in the distance.
