Splashing waves have been depicted by white and blue painting on the lower part of this pot, while on the upper half a clear blue sky has been created using lapis lazuli glazing (dark blue color glaze). A flock of crane fly high across this sky, which stick out using a pasting techinuqe called haritsuke in Japanese.
