The hinoki cypress is known mostly as a material for roof shingles. The rustic feel of its brown bark gives this species a lot of charm. The trunk sharply rises towards the firmament, but eventually turns to spread its bough and foliage down towards the bottom of a precipice. As the trunk almost draws a circle, there can be a lot to be enjoyed in the rounded space this bonsai has created.
