This variety of Japanese camellia named “eiraku” are known for their dark, crimson red flowers. While these flowers will bloom from the start of March, the petals do not fully open, giving them a unique shape. In Japanese this is known as tsutsuzaki, or “tubular flowers”. This piece has been taken care of carefully for around 40 years in order to create its unique twisting trunk, which captures the intrigue of the viewer. The eiraku camellia lets off a gentle aura from its relaxed curves and its smooth white trunk.
