While the Japanese name for the mauls quince includes the Chinese character for apricot, it is actually not an apricot at all, but a variety of quince. This particular bonsai comes from Shimane Prefecture. The tree bears flowers similar to apricots through the four seasons, giving it its Japanese name. This tree has been tailored to look as though has taken root on a high cliff and grown down to the valley below, a style known as the cascade style.
