The foliage at the top of this straight zelkova tree has been tailored to radiate out in a style of bonsai called hōki-zukuri , or “broom style”. This artificial style of bonsai is often seen in Zelkova trees. A sense of stability is created from its sprawling roots and thick trunk. This, combined with its dense leaves, give off the feel of a large tree in the summer.
