The inner part of the trunk has become a deep hollow with the outer bark-covered part wrapping around it. The inner part of the trunk has died and become whitewood, or shari, giving it a unique appearance that only a tree of great age can. The trunk first grows to the right before powerfully twisting upward and sending its branches out growing thick with needles. The contrast of the lush green needles against the ancient looking trunk speak to the life force of this tree.
