The space held between the two trunks of differing size have a strange attractiveness that pulls the eyes of the viewer closer. The name of this piece, Higurashi, means “to spend the day” and was given to this bonsai by oil magnate Chutaro Nakano, who found that he could spend an entire day viewing this bonsai without tiring of it.
