The Omiya Bonsai Art Museum is cooperating with BONSAIENCE, a research group made up of Kyushu University students. Their aim is to use technology to bring bonsai closer to us and make it more enjoyable.

Today, January 20 (Mon.) at 6:30 p.m., their website BONSAIENCE Museum, went online. Here you can see the results of their research and activities, namely you view highly detailed 3d images of bonsai.

This project came to fruition as a result of the enthusiasm of BONSAIENCE members to present more realistic 3D images of this museum’s famous trees. This was done in conjunction with the Omiya Bonsai Museum’s long-term closure for garden renovation from November 5, 2024 to March 20, 2025.

The year 2025 will also mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of the nearby Omiya Bonsai Village, and the museum hopes that a new generation with a scientific eye will visit Omiya and enjoy bonsai in a whole new way.
